I would say that it's not significantly different from McLuhan's observation. One thing's for sure -- the "new" body of media studies coming from scholars out of Germany (namely Zielinski and Friedrich Kittler) are inspired by McLuhan. And Innis too.
What's with all the anonymous comments at Wagmedia? Why don't people at least take a pseudonym so that if they comment more than once, others will know who they are?
